It’s been over a week since I’ve posted anything here, which is an unusual hiatus for my writing. Unfortunately this hiatus will need to last a tiny bit longer.
As you probably already know, I’m working on rewrites of my manuscript for the book to be released next year, tentatively titled Here Be Monsters. I promised the publisher that I’d get it back to them 1 October, which is pretty soon. Fortunately I’m already most of the way there, but unfortunately the short time remaining means I need to focus almost exclusively on finishing it.
So, you may not see many more essays from me until 1 October, after which I’ll return to my normal rate of 8 to 10 per month.
I’m well, by the way. Very well. And I’m feeling quite good about the manuscript.
Also, there’s something else about to happen that’s really cool, and this is something I can use some help on. I’ll be publishing a collection of essays from the last few years, similar in vein to what my first three books (Your Face is a Forest, A Kindness of Ravens, and Witches in a Crumbling Empire) were.
It’s called “The Secret of Crossings.”
I hope to have it released by 1 December, which is an incredibly short deadline as I’m already editing and doing layout for other book projects. And that’s where I can use some help.
I need a copy-editor who would be able to work on the manuscript for it on a very short deadline (15 October to 1 November). Because the copy-editor who works with me through Ritona//Gods&Radicals Press is already committed for another project during the same period, I’ll need to hire someone.
So this is a “job call.” If you’ve got good copy-editing skills and experience working on books, and if you’d be able to copy-edit a 90k-100k manuscript over 15 days, I’d love to hear from you by email (please—preferable over comments). Please briefly describe your experience and your pay requirements in the email.
Hope you are all well, and I’ll be back very soon.
If you're still looking for a copyeditor email me at novorerum08 at gmail. Retired; 2 decades as an editor/copyeditor.
I'm sure you'll tell us where to sign up for this collection of essays once published... looking forward to having this to cozy up with bu the fire this winter! 🙏
