Years ago,the parents of a good friend were driving home on the Saddle roado Hawaii,which in those days was not the modern highway it is today. Suddenly a dog darted out in front of the car and my friends father had to hit the brakes to avoid hitting it. Then,try as he might to pass the dog,it kept running in front of their car. So the mom got out some leftovers from a picnic lunch to leave for the dog at the side of the road. Just then a large avalanche of stone buried a longish section of the road in front of them. Had they not stopped they were likely to have been buried. They looked for the dog to express thanks and there was no sign of her.
It is widely believed that Pele visits in this form. Or sometimes as an elderly female hitchhiker....
Oooohhhh, exciting! As a Slovak, I ought to buy this book, our suffocating hags rarely get mentioned anywhere ever, or anything about Slovakia, for the record (maybe except of our suffocatingly bad *politics* 🥴). Thank you for editing such a book! ✨️
