Hi!
Sorry for such a short post. Besides several family celebrations (thanksgiving, the birthdays of both my husband and my nephew), lots of medical appointments for the aforementioned shoulder problem, and continued gym work, I’m also in the midst of editing several really fantastic manuscripts.
I’ll definitely have something much longer for you this weekend, but I wanted to let you know a few things before time slips away.
First of all, regarding the shoulder: it turns out I won’t need surgery. The actual problem wasn’t a torn tendon at all, but rather bone scarring caused by my “very large shoulder muscles.”
Those weren’t my words by the way, but those of the (perhaps flirtatious) doctor performing the ultrasounds on both my shoulders. He explained that I’d over-developed the muscles in my shoulder to a point that they were pushing against the bone and forcing one of the tendons to shorten. So, instead of surgery, I need to do lots of intense stretches (passive hangs, especially, a recommendation I also got from fellow gym-bro witch
) and stop doing any free weight lifts that require shoulder stability (so, machines and cables are fine, but no more squats, deadlifts, or kettlebell swings). And per the funny remark I mentioned by my physical therapist about me being too old to fix my posture, he’s already said that I’m improving it much faster than he could have expected.Anyway, so that’s that. I’m now at three longer sessions per week at the gym rather than four, which is fine for winter anyway.
Secondly, I wanted to make sure you knew about the end of the year sale at Sul Books (the new publishing collaboration between Aeon Books and Ritona). Everything’s 30% off until 1 January, 2025. If you’re hoping to get a print book in time for Christmas, please note that 5 December is the last guaranteed order date for Christmas delivery (though US readers might still have luck a few days later).
So, that includes all books by me, as well as by lots of other amazing authors, and also all courses.
The link for that sale (use code 2024) is here.
More oh so soon!

I second the passive hanging. It really works. Looks a little funny in the gym but whatevs
I did wonder if you might not be overdoing it - I have the same question about my 20 year old son! There's got to be some point where the body says okay, pay attention to balance and what's natural now. Muscle mass building seems really addictive...
