For the sixteenth episode of The Re/al/ign, I had a fascinating (and tech-troubled) conversation with
about the Machine, Orthodox Christianity, and the tragedy of our expulsion of the sacred from our world. Most of you likely already know Paul from either Dark Mountain (which he co-founded with
) or from his very popular substack, . We’ve been having cordial and fascinating conversations in the comments of many of my essays and by email for quite some time, and I was thrilled to finally get to speak to him on the show.I mentioned our conversation was “tech-troubled.” We had quite a few moments of lags on the recording, and it’s taken me days to get the video file to a watchable state. Unfortunately, there were significant problems with the synchronization of audio and video, but I’ve managed to get it all to a place where at least one of our feeds (Paul’s) is problem-free. This means, however, that my feed isn’t synched well. The audio, however, is mostly fine.
Paid supporters can view or listen to this episode in full now. It will be released to everyone on 15 May. I’ll try again before that date to produce a better quality video, since our conversation really deserves it.
