Can I just say something re: the complaint that women/feminists didn't tell men how to be instead?

I deeply believe that telling men 'be this instead' would have been useless and destructive. I'm pretty glad that women largely didn't.

Take it from a woman: the other gender telling you how and what to be can only turn out to be their absurd sexual and/or romantic fantasy: unachievable, not what you want and not quite like an actual human being.

And also, frankly, we women only have a right to demand men cease to push us around, we have no right to demand men become this way or that to please us instead. Everyone (especially men) would have known that right away. Men are not yet indoctrinated by a thousand years of culture to do whatever we want. They would not have followed that proscription, even if feminists tried.
